Life by Design

It all started with a conversation.

I was saying I want to travel more and my husband’s first simple, but vital question was, “Where do you want to go?” My answer was something along the lines of “I don’t want to do another basic beach vacation. I want to experience culture and see beautiful things (Note: my husband may prefer the basic beach vacay lol).”

And again my husband said, “ok, but where do you want to go?” Realizing I had no definitive answer, I took a global look at our life.

We have a great life. A happy life full of chaos and fun. Full of laughter with a dash of sorrows.  I mean we really are blessed and worked for the life we have… but I had a question.

Are we truly living a life by design?

A life by design is one that is purposeful, not perfectly planned.  A life by design is focused, really focused on the important things and the things that bring you true joy.

Was this our life?

Unfortunately, the answer is a resounding NO.

Do we have goals and are we working towards them? YES.

Do we do our best with our kiddos? YES.

Are we happy? YES.

But, and this is a very big BUT, we are living more in getting caught up in some of our goals rather than really prioritizing our JOYS.

I know you get it. I know you have been there. When life pulls you from one circumstance to the next. One job to the next. One baby to the next.  When just keeping up is all you can do because after all… You know your life is pretty great. BUT…but…but..but…are you living a life by design?

Where is the passion that you were once so gripped by?

Where are the things you always swore you would do?

Where is life leading you since clearly…you are not leading it?

These were some heavy thoughts to take under consideration.

But, by God, we have made a decision. This year my goal and my hubby’s goal is to authentically DESIGN Our LIFE.

April 15th 2018 is the day we start designing our life.

What day are you going to start designing yours?

Some ideas to help you get started:

  1. Try vision boarding (It’s amazing and I have a workshop coming soon.)
  2. Write down your big hairy scary goals.
  3. Make a bucket list.
  4. Write down the things you will NOT allow in your life anymore.
  5. Ask yourself, who are the most important people in your life. Are you finding joy with them?

Also, I figured it out… it’s Spain, Italy, or Peurto Rico.
