Doubt is the killer of dreams

Motivation Monday, Y’all!!!  Let me tell you what my Monday mornings look like. Wake up and imagine what my best self looks like, my ideal life for 15-30 minutes. I try to always get some visioning in every day. If happens as it so often does while I am lying in bed. so be it.  My time is limited on whether one of my 3 kids come crashing into the room. I have a firm belief that their vision is based on movement. HA!

BOOM BOOM BOOM one of the kids pops in and I am jumping up. A smile on my face, ready to get the week going!!! Once we are out the door and in the car, we usually have Pink’s “Just like Fire” blaring in the speakers.  And I love the chorus:

“We came here to run it, run it, run it

We came here to run it, run it, run it

Just like fire, burning up the way

If I can light the world up for just one day

Watch this madness, colorful charade

No one can be just like me any way

Just like magic, I’ll be flying free

I’mma disappear when they come for me

I kick that ceiling, what you gonna say?

No one can be just like me any way

Just like fire, uh

And people like to laugh at you ’cause they are all the same, mmm, mmm

See I would rather we just go a different way than play the game mm, mm” –PINK

It is beyond gratifying to hear my 4 year old and 7 year old singing at the top of their lungs about lighting up the world, and leading, and being ok with being different.  It is awesome.  I’ve pretty much made this our theme song for the next year.

It reminds me that the only thing that ever really stops any of us is our own doubt. Doubt is the killer of dreams.  You see, often we are so afraid to shine our light, to show we are different from, to even admit we want to be leaders of our lives that we simply don’t even try. We become comfortable in our mediocrity. I mean hey, no one can judge you when you are the same as they are, right?

Today, I want to encourage you to break out of the comfort zone. Take 5, 10, 15 minutes and imagine what you best self looks like.  We are all born with unique gifts that we are supposed to share with the world.  Most of us just need to believe it and stop doubting ourselves.  Tell me what does your best self look like? I bet it is pretty spectacular. So, go on, light up the world.

Aim high,
