The title says it all.  I have listened to this book about 3 times last year and have got a huge burst of positive energy from it. This book is pretty much one of my favorites.  It is filled with mind hacks, funny stories, and the push you need to get you going.

If you choose to listen vs read or in addition to reading, I think you will enjoy hearing the words straight from the author’s mouth.  Jen Sincero reads her book with sincerity and humor.  She has a very nice flow that really kept me engaged while listening. One caveat, if you are offended by foul language, this is a book to skip. If not, read on.

In “You are Badass”, Jen Sincero tells her back story. Like most successful people, she found her path in a series of twists and turns.  Her story is relatable and reminds us that in all trials, as long as we keep learning and moving, each one of us have a road tailor made for us, not free from difficulty, but the kind of obstacles that help you grow and really set you free.

What I love about this book:

On Being yourself:

The book reminds us that we are each unique, we are each filled with our own talent and we owe ourselves to be ourselves.  Sincero really pushes that it is important to be YOU: YOU in your failures and success, YOU in your ups and downs, and YOU in all your weird glory.  As she says, “All that matters is what’s true for you, and if you can stay connected to that without straying, you will be a mighty superhero.”

On Fear:

“Because so often when we say we’re unqualified for something, what we’re really saying is that we’re too scared to try it, not that we can’t do it.”

On Being Unstoppable:

“There’s nothing as unstoppable as a freight train full of fuck-yeah. If you’ve ever known what it’s like to be in your groove, and are having trouble finding your way right now, think back to your attitude and what your priorities were when you were totally lit up about life, and use them to help give you the clarity and the kick in the rear end you need now.”

This book is not a roadmap or how to per say, but it is a book that will inspire you.  It is a book that will make you feel good. It is a book that will make you ask yourself the hard questions. I love this book. I will continue reading it on and off whenever I need a reminder.  Let me know what you thought.  Have you read it? DO you plan to?

Aim High,
